The judiciary of England and Wales – the Midland region, have issued a set of guidelines which are aimed at parents, headed ‘What the Family Courts expect from parents’. The guidelines are designed to cause parents to reflect before they issue an application to the Court, asking the Court to determine an issue that has arisen in relation to their child or children.

The Court, therefore, expects you to do what is best for your child:-

• Encourage your child to have a good relationship with both of you.
• Try to have a good enough relationship with each other as parents, even though you are no longer together as a couple.
• Arrange for your child to spend time with each of you.
